Franklin Sylvester is the son of Caleb and Joanna Sylvester. He was born
in Maine, is 16 years old, and is a farmer.

Plainview (Plainview Post Office): Page 40; June 18, 1860.
Franklin Sylvester is head of household, married to Emma J. [Cook]
Sylvester. He is 25 years old, a farmer with real estate valued at $800
and personal estate valued at $500, and was born in Maine. Their
children in the household are Jenny M. and Arthur. Franklin's sister
Abby F. [Sylvester] Yetter and family live in the adjacent household, and
his brother George W. Sylvester and family lives three households away.

[Wabasha Co., MN], 3 farms away from GW [George Washington Sylvester] and
Matilda."
- "... on 10 August 1862 he enlists in Company H, Sixth Minnesota
Infantry Regiment. We know he died on furlough in Milton, WI on 31 Oct
1864 (age 30), rank of sergeant."

with his brother-in-law Franklin (Sylvester).

Franklin Sylvester, Co. H, 6th Minnesota Infantry (Union). Rank In =
Corporal, Rank Out = Sergeant. Film Number M546 roll 9. During the
period of his enlistment, this unit served in engagements with the Sioux
and other Indian nations on the Minnesota and Dakota frontiers, and
escorted supply trains to various remote outposts.

±26'), Graceland Cemetery, Mineral Point, Iowa Co., WI, July 9, 2004.
The Slyvester family tombstone lists several individuals including
Franklin Sylvester, and the notation "Natives of Maine." He is recorded
as "Franklin Died Oct. 31, 1864 Aged 30-3-25." He also has an individual
stone recognizing his service in the army.
