parents. He is head of household, an insurance agent, and married to
Elizabeth ("Lizzie") (Chenoweth) Sylvester. Their child is Edna
Sylvester. Esther Johnson, a servant born in Illinois of Swedish
parents, is also part of the household.

"Sylvester, C. B., agent American Express Company and insurance agent,
Ogden; was born in Franklin county, Maine, in 1832, and when twelve years
of age he removed with his parents to Iowa county, Wisconsin, where he
lived till he reached his majority; he had all of the advantages of the
common schools, supplemented with an academic education, under the
tuition of Hon. J. L. Pickard, of Plattville, Wisconsin, graduating in
class of '59; he traveled more or less throughout Minnesota, Colorado,
Kansas and Wisconsin, and engaged in teaching, surveying, etc., until
1870, when he came to his present location, and has since made it his
home; he was married, December 8, 1869, to Miss Lizzie Chynoweth, a
native of England, who was educated at Rockford, Illinois, graduating in
the class of '68; they have one daughter: Edna; such is the brief outline
and history of one whose career has been marked by enterprise, energy,
pure motives and honest effort; he has made himself what he is, a worthy
type of independent manhood."
