"Barnabas CHIPMAN, seventh son of Samuel CHIPMAN, was born in Barnstable, Mass., March 24, 1702; died 1759. He was a mason and lived in Barnstable. Was chosen deacon of the ancient Congregational Church there May 9, 1753. His will dated Nov. 1, 1758, mentions his children Barnabas, Thomas and Elizabeth and his wife 'Elcie.' He married first Feb. 20, 1727, Elizabeth, daughter of Isaac HAMBLIN; second Oct. 31, 1751, Mary, daughter of his cousin John CHIPMAN; third, Sept. 13, 1753, Alice HOWLAND of Barnstable. Five children by Elizabeth, --
