Brewery/Brewpub Location Map

Status: Blue-N-Gold Brewing Company has been closed for several years. There is now a sports bar in its former location.

Reason for Visit: I often frequented the Clarendon neighborhood of Arlington County. Blue-N-Gold Brewing Company was an early part of Clarendon's transformation from an eclectic mix of funky ethnic and indie businesses to an outdoor shopping promenade of upscale corporate ventures. There's ongoing debate about whether that's a good thing or a bad thing, but that's not the purpose of this website so I won't go there. Perhaps Blue-N-Gold was just ahead of its time as it closed its doors several years ago. I don't know why it closed -- it always seemed to have a decent crowd.

[Blue-N-Gold Brewing Company Coaster] Front of Coaster: The Blue-N-Gold Brewing Company coaster features a circular design and a full-color version of their logo. The bird forming the central focus of this image is a macaw. I seem to recall hearing that Blue-N-Gold was named after the feather colors of the owner's pet macaw but that may be apocryphal. The name of the brewery, written once in blue ink and a second time in gold ink, forms an outer boarder.
[Blue-N-Gold Brewing Company Coaster - Back] Back of Coaster: The back of the coaster contains a simpler design with a stylized font displaying the initials "B-N-G."
[Blue-N-Gold Brewing Company Glass] Glassware: It's hard to identify the style for this Blue-N-Gold Brewing Company glass. It starts off at the bottom like a pilsner glass, then begins to take on the shape of a tulip glass further up. If I had to categorize it I'd say it looks most like a stylized version of a hefeweizen glass. In any case this is the only type of whatever glass this is in my collection. The image is full color on clear glass and features both the "B-N-G" initials and the macaw logo.
[Blue-N-Gold Brewing Company Matchbox] Front of Matchbox: The same design extends to this Blue-N-Gold Brewing Company matchbox. It also includes address and telephone information. Don't bother visiting or calling though. The brewpub no longer exists.
[Blue-N-Gold Brewing Company Matchbox - Back] Back of Matchbox: The back of the matchbox implores the user to "Stop Wining." Does this mean people should stop complaining, or perhaps stop drinking wine (and drink beer instead)?
