"Louis FUNK is Dead at 84; Funeral Service Tuesday. Louis FUNK, one of Watertown's well known older residents, died late Saturday afternoon at his home, 1012 South Ninth street. His death came peacefully in sleep and followed an illness that began with a cold. He had been confined to bed only a few days, however. Mr FUNK, who for years operated a milk route in Watertown, was the first milk man here to introduce the modern milk bottle on his route. Earlier in his life he had been an engineer at the Davidson Theatre, Milwaukee, and the Plankinton hotel building there. Born in Albany, N.Y., he was a son of Mr. and Mrs. George FUNK who brought him to this region when he was a boy. The family settled in the town of Emmet and he grew to manhood there. He had lived in this locality for more than 45 years. He operated his own farm for many years and about 20 years ago moved to the city, upon retirement from active work. He was one of 13 children. Family Survives. Surviving are his wife, the former Margaret BREENE whom he married 48 years ago, and three children, Mrs. Marie YANDRE, Waupaca, Wis.; Mrs. Hazel HOFMANN, Milwaukee; and George B. FUNK, Watertown. There are seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren. A daughter, Mrs. Hattie WARNER, died about 17 years ago. One brother, Jacob, Milwaukee; and five sisters, Mrs. Caroline WEIHERT and Mrs. Mary HEROLD, Watertown; Mrs. Lena DAVIS, Chagrin Falls, O.; Mrs. Minnie MARKHAM, Neillsville; and Mrs. Dinah SCHNEIDER, Madison, also survive. Mr. FUNK was a member of the First Congregational church here. Throughout his long life he was active, continuing his interest in affairs even down to his final illness. He was known in every part of the city by reason of his early milk route and had friends in every walk of life. He was a progressive citizen. New of his death came as a shock to many old friends. The funeral will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Schmutzler funeral home, the Rev. C. W. Pink-..."
