Moses Plant is head of household, married to Eliza [Naiden] Plant. He is 49 years old, born in England, and is a farmer with real estate valued at $700 and personal estate valued at $300. Children in the household are Sarah, Samuel, Fanny and Moses. (2) 1870 United States Census for Michigan, Ionia Co., Orange Twp. (Ionia Post Office): page 26; June 9, 1870. Moses Plant is head of household, married to Eliza [Naiden] Plant. He was born in England, is 62 years old and a farmer with real estate valued at $1,600 and personal estate valued at $340. Portrait of Elias Gates. "The Plant family stayed in England until 1833 when they arrived in America to settle in Ohio. Later they went to Canada and resided there until 1858 when they arrived in Michigan. They settled successively in Orange, Ionia and Berlin. The Plants had eight children, five of them living in 1891, when the book was written, one of them, Samuel lost his life at Savannah, Ga. while serving in the Union Army."
