"Seth CHIPMAN, sixth son of Samuel CHIPMAN was born in Barnstable, Mass., Feb. 24, 1697; died 1766. He was a resident of Kingston, Mass., when that town was incorporated, and for about fifteen years thereafter his name appears each year among the town officers. A cooper, a surveyor of lumber. On Sept. 17, 1721 he married, Priscilla, daughter of Major John and Mercy (WARREN) BRADFORD, born March 10, 1686. Four children, ---, born bap. Aug. 11, 1723; Seth, Nov. 1, 1724; Mercy Nov. 19, 1725 m. 1763, Benj. BRADFORD; Benjamin May 23, 1729."
