"In Volume 1, Number 3 of the Howland Quarterly, published by The Pilgrim John Howland Society (Incorporated), an announcement of great interest to the descendants of John, Arthur and Henry HOWLAND was made through the kindness of Mr. McClure M. HOWLAND of New York City, vice-president of the society. It has long been known that they had a brother Humphrey HOWLAND, draper, of London, England. The records of the Drapers’ Company of London were searched. As a result of this investigation, it was announced that 'According to the records of the Draper Company Humphrey’s father was Henry HOWLAND of Fen Stanton, [Huntingdonshire], England.'"

..."The search of Fen Stanton parish records of baptisms and burials, 1612-1640 was disappointing. No HOWLAND baptism was found, and only one burial, viz. that of Henry HOWLAND, May 19, 1635. This Henry was the father of John, Arthur and Henry HOWLAND of Plymouth Colony."
