"Dorcas D. WHITNEY signed a Widow's Claim for a War of 1812 pension from Franklin County, Maine on 3 April 1878..."

"There is testimony from Preston and Cynthia HUFF, both of Wilton, Franklin Co., Maine. They were neighbors of and were well acquainted with Simon and Dorcas D. PARLIN. She was his wife from the time of their marriage 7 April 1836 to the time of his death. He died in the Town of Wilton on 23 January 1837, and was buried in said town. His grave is within sight of the HUFF's dwelling house. They have since known Dorcas D. PARLIN as the wife of, and more recently the widow of Ebenezer WHITNEY."
