NOTES PROVIDED IN THE ERLENKOTTER FAMILY RECORDS:

"On 10 February 1813 Hannah WESTCOT of Farmington purchased 36 1/2 acres of land from Cromwell McLOUTH and his wife Lucinda for $650.00, being part of the north half, south of the center line, of lot 19 in the town of Farmington, Ontario County, NY [Ontario County Deed Records, Book 18, p. 268]."

"The Western Repository and Genesee Advertiser of Wednesday, 10 August 1813, reports the death of widow Isabella [sic] WESTCOTT, age 76 years, at Farmington, NY. Surely there was confusion here between the widows WESTCOTT, as Hannah was the one who had just died. On 1 October 1813 Charlotte WESTCOAT, daughter of the late Hannah WESTCOAT of Farmington who had died intestate, was appointed as administratrix of Hannah's estate [Ontario County Letters of Administration, Book 7, p. 88]."

"The inventory of the estate of Hannah WESTCOT, dated at Farmington on 1 January 1814, includes amounts due from Gideon GRINOLS, the widow WILLIAMS, Samuel BLANCHARD, Amaziah WESTCOAT, and Nathan WESTCOAT. The net estate of $59.77 was presented by administratrix Charlotte MOORE on 18 January 1819 and divided equally among eight heirs [Ontario County Letters of Administration, Book 11, p. 128]."

"Hannah's gravestone in the Baptist Cemetery of Manchester (formerly Farmington), NY is broken and has only "ESTCOT" remaining of her name. The inscription, which is missing the first three words, should read

[Let this vain] world engage no more,
Behold the gaping tomb.
It bids us seize the present hour,
Tomorrow death may come."
