in the City of Falls Church, Virginia, USA.

Reason for Visit: We have been to many of the breweries and brewpubs in the Washington, DC area. Mad Fox is a welcome addition to the mix, and well worth any reason to stop by and check it out.

Brewpub Entrance: The address for Mad Fox Brewing Company is on Broad Street but the entrance is on the side, where a U-shaped driveway provides access to three building lining it. There is a very small amount of on-street parking directly adjacent to the entrance but go a few feet further to a large parking garage with plenty of free spaces. That's a whole lot easier than hoping one of the spots opens directly in front. The garage is a very short walk away. |

Coaster: The coaster for Mad Fox has tannish-gold print on a dark brown, almost black background. It features the brewery logo, which not surprisingly includes the silhouette of a fox although there's no indication of why he's mad. Actually the "mad" refers to the name of the executive brewer, Bill Madden and "fox" is his wife's maiden name |

Brewing Equipment: The seriousness of this operation comes through once you enter the brewpub. Look at the size of the serving tanks, and realize that this is only a portion of their equipment; the brewhouse itself is in another room. This is a tremendous amount of production capacity and it signals the prominence of beer here. It's is a brewpub where the beer stands out front-and-center. It's not an afterthought or some marketing gimmick. The brewers are innovative and risk-taking, not formulaic. |

The Bar: The bar takes up a long stretch of wall space. This photo captures maybe about half of it. Generally there are about a dozen beers made on-premise available at any given time. In addition there are two or three cask ales available, served in the proper manner. The brewers here have won a slew of awards and medals at the big national shows during their careers, and it shows. This is a great brewing addition to the Washington, DC area. |
