"PERRY, Sept. 2 -- Funeral services for Miss Gladys CUMMINS, 43, were to be held Monday afternoon from the Baptist church at 2 o'clock. The Rev. Mr. E. A. COLTRIN of Lansing, former pastor of the church, was to officiate, assisted by the Rev. Mr. J. W. JOHNSON, the pastor. Burial was to be made in Roselawn Cemetery. She died Friday afternoon at the Hurley Hospital at Flint where she was taken a week ago Sunday and had continuously grown weaker. The cause of her death was a tumor of the brain. Miss CUMMINS had been one of Perry's well liked and popular young women. She had been a teacher of the Owosso and the Flint schools for around 21 years. She was to return to the Flint schools next Tuesday for the coming year. She was much interested in the Girl Scout movement in the city. Miss CUMMINS was born in Perry September 27, 1896, the daughter of the late Byron CUMMINS and Miss Ella CUMMINS of this place. She attended the Perry school and graduated in the year 1917. She then went to the State Normal at Mt. Pleasant for two years and had returned at various times for a summer course. She also attended Columbia university in New York for one summer. Surviving besides the aged mother, Mrs. Ella CUMMINS, there is one sister, Mrs. Fred KLUNZINGER of Mt. Pleasant."
