- Jacob HOUSTATER "of the town of Lewiston, County of Niagara, and State of New York, of the age of sixty three" signed his Last Will and Testament, 15 October 1863.
- References his wife Belinda [GOULD] HOUSTATER, daughters Margaret, Nancy, Jane, Harriet, and Sarah HOUSTATER; and names John GOULD executor. Belinda was to receive one-third of the estate, and the daughters to split the remaining two-thirds equally except Margaret would receive a double share.
- John GOULD appeared before the Surrogate of the County of Niagara on 12 September 1864 as "executor named in the Last Will and Testament of Jacob HOUSTATER late of the town of Lewiston in the County of Niagara, deceased."
