"Nephews Officiate at Requiem Mass For Mrs. COLUMBUS. Widow of Contractor Lifelong Resident of Washington. Solemn high requiem mass was celebrated yesterday at St. Martin's Church for Mrs. Mary T. COLUMBUS, 85, who died at Providence Hospital Thursday morning. The three priests who officiated are nephews of the deceased. They are the Rev. Joseph LANE, the Rev. Ignatius FEALY and the Rev. Leo FEALY. The Rev. Bernard PROSISE, a grandnephew, was master of ceremonies. The Rev. Louis F. MILTONBERGER, assistant pastor of St. Martin's, preached the funeral sermon. In the sanctuary were Msgrs. M. J. RIOEDAN and Lawrence SHEHAN. A life-long resident of Washington, Mrs. COLUMBUS, whose only son, Charles J. COLUMBUS, is secretary of the Advertising Club of Washington, was born October 5, 1855, in Brookland, on a tract of land that is now part of the United States Soldiers' Home. Her parents, Thomas and Ellen FEALY, came to this country from Ireland in 1850, and remained all their lives in Washington. Widow of a well-known Washington contractor, Christopher M. COLUMBUS, who died 14 years ago, Mrs. COLUMBUS had lived for years at 34 Q street N.E. She was one of nine children, all of whom are dead except of Sister Mary Gabriel FEALY of the Sisters of Providence, who has spent 55 years working for poor and destitute children of Boston, Mass. Another sister, the late Sister Eugenia FEALY, was mother superior of the Sisters of Charity in the West. Mrs. COLUMBUS was buried in Mount Olivet Cemetery. She is survived by her son, Charles J., and five grandchildren, Charles Anthony COLUMBUS, John Joseph COLUMBUS, Mary V. COLUMBUS, Joseph J. COLUMBUS and Eugenie COLUMBUS. Sisters from Providence Hospital, St. Ann's, St. Vincent's, St. Rose's and the Immaculate Conception attended the funeral. Special services were held Friday by the Ladies' Sodality of St. Martin's."
