"Carthage Lady Succumbs to Heart Attack. Mrs. Etta THOMPSON, 74, died suddenly Thursday morning at her home here, where she lived alone. Her death was discovered by Mrs. Virgil TILLERY, who called her by telephone. When she received no answer, she went to the house. She found Mrs. THOMPSON's body about 11 a.m. at the dining room table where she had fallen to the floor. W. D. BUSH, coroner, rendered a verdict of 'death from natural causes.' Since she had for some time had a heart condition, it is believed that a heart attack caused her sudden death. A native of the county, Mrs. THOMPSON was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John H. WOOTEN, prominent citizens of an earlier day. She was married to Lloyd THOMPSON, a leading merchant in Carthage of 40 years ago. She was a member of the Methodist Church and was prominent in social circles here for many years. Funeral services were held at Hawthorn Chapel at 2:30 p.m. Friday with Rev. H. B. ROQUEMORE officiating, assisted by the Rev. Grady EARLS. Burial, under the direction of the Hawthorn Funeral Home, was in the City Cemetery. Surviving are a son, Lloyd THOMPSON, Jr. of Brownsville, Tenn.; a granddaughter Mrs. Loy ANSLEY, Baton Rouge, La., and three sisters, Mrs. R. E. BURNS of Tenaha, Mrs. W. A. HAILE of Rutherford, N. J. and Miss Pearl WOOTEN, Fort Worth."
