"Her grandfather, Richard YOUNG, came from England to New Jersey, and later settled in South Carolina, where her father, also named Richard, entered the Continental army at the age of nineteen years. After the war he went to Kentucky, and about 1815 removed to Indiana, liberating his slaves, of which he had a considerable number... [she] died Dec. 25, 1879, aged seventy-eight years." NOTE: She appears in the 1880 census -- the Biographical Record book is probably in error; checking mathematically it would more likely be 1880.
