(5) Obituary via Newspapers.com: The Moulton Advertiser; Moulton, Alabama; Fri, May 6, 1870; Page 3

"Obituary. It is made our painful duty to chronicle the death of our beloved Sister, Mrs. MARTHA E. SIMPSON, consort of John M. SIMPSON, of Jonesboro, Ala. The subject of this notice was the daughter of John L. and Jane M. STEENSON, of Mt. Hope, Ala,. Was born Oct. 20th, 1832; was married Dec. 19th, 1855; attached herself to the Cumberland Presbyterian Church, at Rock Spring, in the summer of 1854, living a consistent upright life. She was afflicted several months previous to her death, but like a christian, she bore her afflictions with fortitude, and died perfectly resigned to the will of God, which sad event occurred April 25th, 1870. She leaves a husband, four little children and many friends to mourn her death. To them we would say, 'sorrow not as those who have no hope, for your loss is her eternal gain.' And may the same God who gave her victory in death, bless and protect those loved ones she has left behind."
