"Myrtle GALLOWAY McGAUGHY by H G McGAUGHY, Montevallo, Al. My mother was Myrtle G McGAUGHY. She was born on November 12, 1901, the first child of Alonzo Clay and Ludie GALLOWAY. There were four other children after Myrtle: Clarence, A C, Angel and Eloise. The GALLOWAY family moved from Wilsonville to Montevallo when their children were quite young to a farm (known as the Moon Mullins Farm and later as the Lonnie Russell Farm) where they raised most of their substance for life. The later moved to a fifty acre farm near Almont. Myrtle GALLOWAY met and fell in love with Herbert McGAUGHY whom she married in 1921 in Montevallo. Herbert worked in the coal mines in Aldrich, Dogwood, and Boothton for a period of 37 years. In 1928, the McGAUGHY couple moved to their house on Highway 25 in Montevallo where their only child Herbert GALLOWAY was born in 1936..."
