- Nickname: Jimmie
- Starred in the "Jimmie HULL Show" along with his brother, Walter

Page 223: "The philosophy of the Hull Brothers (Jimmy and Walter) was reflected in their entertainment. 'To be funny,' they said, 'one should have a kindly understanding of human nature. Comedy should not be sick, cruel or vulgar.' Their mother wrote one of the plays for the show, and they staged it in Washington, D.C., which was attended by the President of the United States during the 1920's. Jimmy HULL took his show all over the United States. One of his costumes was a white tuxedo, with hat and cane to match, completely covered with rhinestones, and it was very heavy. He danced across the stage in it, a beautiful site, but the weight of it left him breathless. He brought this show to Carthage [Texas] around 1930. He played the piano number that his 'Little Auntie,' Minnow Ellis, taught his as a child. One of the keys on her Concert Square Grand Piano was out of tune, and he mimicked the out-of-tune key so the audience would know how it sounded; he was a natural comedian."

"Jimmie HULL, Dean of Nation's Amateur Producers, is Dead. The final curtain came down here today on the life of a man who, as producer and actor, carried the theatre to millions at America's cross roads over a period of 34 years. James H. (Jimmie) HULL, 57, dean of the nation's producers of amateur theatrical activities and for more than two decades one of its leading tent show impresarios, succumbed to a heart attack in a local hospital today at 4:40 a. m. and went to make the grand entrance on a setting where the curtain never comes down. He was stricken at his home Wednesday about 11 p. m. and carried immediately to the hospital, where he remained conscious for most of the time until he died. Death came just four days before Mr. HULL was to have begun rehearsals on his 503rd amateur production at Port Arthur where he staged his first show. LOVED WORK WITH AMATEURS. In the nearly three and a half decades which have elapsed since that first revue Mr. HULL has put on amateur stage productions for clubs and organizations throughout America. His greatest satisfaction from life was to take a group of rank amateurs and by developing their talents for comedy or drama, to make their friends laugh and cry while earning money for some worthy civic or charitable enterprise. Sponsors' proceeds from his productions have financed or helped to finance a thousand and one charitable ventures all over the U. S. And much of his own share of the gate receipts went into unpublicized charitable activities so that when death came he remained a man of modest means. In addition to his work with amateurs, Mr. HULL operated tent shows for more than 20 years, traveling the length and breadth of the land to carry comedy and drama to the people of the nation's small towns. In his amateur productions he put grease paint on millionaires and skimpy costumes on prim school teachers. Several of America's most famous show people today got early experience in Jimmy HULL shows. RETIRED TWICE. Twice the producer retired from show business and entered business here but each time the call of the footlights proved too strong and he went back to work to produce and act once more. At his side during the peak and later years of his career, and as always, when the last curtain fell, was his wife and assistant, Actress Ariel (Tiny) HULL, who survives. Mr. HULL was a native of Carthage, Texas; a Presbyterian; a 32nd degree Mason; a Shriner; member of the Ibis Grotto, the Rotary club and the Eagles lodge, and an honorary member of the Lions club and Junior Chamber of Commerce. He moved with his parents to Port Arthur while a youth but later spent all his time when not on the road at his home in Orange. He was a veteran of World War I. Funeral services will be held Friday at 4 p. m. at the First Presbyterian church with the pastor, Dr. E. T. DRAKE, officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen cemetery under direction of Claybar funeral home. Masonic rites will be conducted at the graveside. OTHER SURVIVORS. Other survivors are a brother, Walter D. HULL of Houston, and two sisters, Mrs. Joe HOOKER of Beaumont and Mrs. Lillian GANOUNG of Orange. Active pallbearers will be W. E. BEADLE, J. K. CONN, George W. DALLAS, Ted BELILE, J. C. WINFREY, W. N. LEVINE, Sam J. McGEE and R. R. McKINLEY, all Masons. All friends are asked to serve as honorary pallbearers."
