"Gershom COBB, son of James and grand son of Elder Henry COBB, born Aug. 4, 1675, married Hannah DAVIS, 24th Feb, 1702-3. His house stood near the centre of Elder COBB's great lot. Some ancient pear trees now mark the spot. Elder COBB probably built a house there, afterwards owned by his son James. His children born in Barnstable were: I. John, 22d May, 1704, died April 1706. II. Sarah, 27th Oct. 1705, married Nath'l BACON, 1726. III. Gershom, 15th Nov. 1707, married April 20, 1732, Miss Sarah BAXTER of Yarmouth, and died the same year... IV. John, born 17th Nov. 1709. Removed to Plymouth. V. Hannah, 29th Aug, 1711, married Jan'y 29, 1734, David CHILDS of Barnstable. VI. Thankful, 10th July, 1714, married Oct. 14, 1746, David DIMMOCK. VII. Anne, 8th Dec. 1716, died 4th Nov. 1720. VIII. Josiah, twin brother of Anne. IX. Edward, 2d Nov. 1718. X. Mary, 14th June 1721, married first, Isaac GORHAM, Sept. 2, 1742, and second, James CHURCHILL, Feb. 3, 1756-7."

"GERSHOM COBB (James-2, Henry-1), born August 31, 1675 at Barnstable, Mass... died about 1751, as we find that on 7 May, 1751, Hannah COBB of Barnstable, widow, was granted administration of the estate of Gershom COBB of Barnstable, deceased; the inventory, taken May 24, 1751, £273-12-4, by David CROCKER, Robert DAVIS and Silvanus COBB, sworn to by Hannah COBB, widow (Barn. Prob. 7:208,8:527). The division of two thirds of the real estate that 'Gershom COBB of Barnstable yeoman' died seized of, was made May 24, 1751 and is as follows, -- To his Grandson Gershom COBB a Double Portion... To the heirs of John COBB one Seventh... To Sarah BACON one seventh... To Hannah CHILDS one Seventh... To Thankful DIMOCK on Seventh... To Mary GORHAM one Seventh. (Barn. Prob. 8:530). April 28, 1758, the widow's One Third of the Real Estate of Gershom COBB was divided."
