(2) Otis, Amos. Genealogical Notes of Barnstable [Mass.] Families Volume I. Barnstable, Massachusetts, United States, F.B. & F.P. Goss (the "Patriot Press"), 1888. Page 55-58.

Pages 55-56: Benjamin BEARSE was the son of Joseph BEARSE (and grandson of Austin BEARSE) and Martha TAYLOR (and grandson of Richard "tailor" TAYLOR). "Benjamin, born June 21, 1682, married, Feb. 4, 1701-2, Sarah COBB, second, Anna NICKERSON of Chatham... Benjamin BEARSE, son of Joseph, was one of the early settlers of Hyannis. His homestead was bounded east by David HALLET's land, the corner being two rods from HALLET's house, and is now owned by his descendents... He was engaged in the fisheries, and the success of himself and sons were sung by some contemporary troubadour, whose verses are remembered though the name of the poet is forgotten... he married in 1747 his second wife, Anna NICKERSON of Chatham. He died May 15, 1748, aged 66, and is buried with his first wife in the old grave-yard in Hyannis, where their son Samual caused grave stones to be erected to their memory."
