"Frank Elmer was born on July 30, 1862 near Perry, Michigan. He joined his father, Jeptha CUMMINS, in Dakota in the fall of 1881. In the spring of 1882 family differences arose which angered Frank Elmer and he left home and never returned. Over a period of many years he wrote three letters to members of his family but did not give the family any information about himself. Whether he is now living or dead is not known."
