"Perez CHIPMAN, fourth son of Hon. John CHIPMAN, was born in Sandwich, Mass., Sept. 28, 1702; died 1781. He lived in Sussex County, Del., but is believed to have previously lived in some New England State for a considerable time. A blacksmith. He married Judith DRAPER and children were born as follows:-- John (or Thomas) Sarah, Betsey, Kezia, Perez, Benjamin, Love, Draper, Mellicent, Mary."

"In the name of God Amen the Fifth day of August in the year of our Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred and Eighty. I Paris CHIPMAN of Sussex County and State of Delaware, Blacksmith, being very sick and weak of body but of perfect mind and memory thanks be given unto God therefore: calling unto mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament, as seeking such worldly estate whose wish it hath pleases God to bless one within this life I give and dispose of the same in the following form and manner. First I give and bequeath unto my wife Judah CHIPMAN the one half of my lands and dwelling plantation with the one half of all the privileges therein to belonging during her widowhood, and if she should marry for her then to have her thirds. I also give to my son Draper CHIPMAN all the remainder part of my lands and dwelling plantation, and after my wife dies for the whole tract or parcel of land to be the right and property of him the said Draper CHIPMAN, his heirs and assigns for last. I also give to my Wife Judah CHIPMAN one Negro woman called Sewry to her and her heirs for ever. I also give to my Daughter Sarah CHIPMAN one Negro boy called Daniel to her and her heirs for ever. I also give to my Daughter Betsy CHIPMAN one Negro boy called Frank to her and her heirs for ever. My will and desire is that the first child that the said Negro Woman called Sewry shall have after this time shall be the right and property of my Daughter Memory CHIPMAN and her heirs for ever and also my will is that the second child that the said Negro Woman shall have from this time shall be the right and property of my daughter Kezia CHIPMAN and her heirs for ever. I also give to my Son Paris CHIPMAN my whole set of Blacksmith's tools, and also one warrant in the surveyors hands for One Hundred Acres of Land --- I also give to my three daughters namely; Lovey CHIPMAN, Melly CHIPMAN and Mary CHIPMAN to each of them one good feather bed apiece. I also leave and constitute my wife Judah CHIPMAN and my Son Paris CHIPMAN my whole and sole Executrix and Executor of my whole and sole moveable estate. In witness whereof I the said Paris CHIPMAN have hereunto set my hand and seal and have acknowledged this to be my Last Will and Testament the day and year first above mentioned."
