"S.J. McGAUGHY. Funeral services for Samuel Joseph McGAUGHY, 80, of Montevallo, were held today at First Baptist Church of Montevallo, the Rev. Edward GLUVER officiating. Burial was in Montevallo Cemetery. Bolton Funeral Home of Columbiana directing. Mr. McGAUGHY died Tuesday at a Shelby County nursing home. He was a native and life-long resident of Montevallo. A deacon and trustee of Montevallo First Baptist Church, he was a retired wholesale dealer. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Lena CLINKSCALES of Auburn, Mrs. Glennie CLARK of Montevallo, and Mrs. Molly TURNBACH of Gadsden; three sons, Alvin J. McGAUGHY, George W. McGAUGHY and Earl W. McGAUGHY, all of Montevallo; three half-sisters, Mrs. George REID of Selma, Mrs. Robert BEARDEN of Montevallo, and Mrs. W. F. MOODY of Calera; six half-brothers, Howard J. McGAUGHY Sr., H. M. McGAUGHY, Herbert McGAUGHY and J. T. McGAUGHY, all of Montevallo, Edgar McGAUGHY and Marion McGAUGHY, both of Birmingham, 18 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Honorary pallbearers were deacons of First Baptist Church of Montevallo, Dr. L. E. KIRKLAND and Dr. Leslie HUBBARD of Montevallo."
