"Weston HOWARD, the father of John M. HOWARD of East Joplin, died at his residence on Parr Hill yesterday morning at 10 o'clock, aged 62 years. The funeral will take place from the residence this afternoon at 3 o'clock, Rev. HACKNEY conducting the services. The interment will be made in Cox's grave yard in East Joplin. Deceased was a corporel in the 51st regiment of Indiana infantry, company E. He served six years and was honorably discharged."

"The procession attending the funeral of Weston HOWARD passed through Main street yesterday afternoon from Parr Hill to the Cox's grave yard. Judging from the long retinue of vehicles, a looker on would suppose that the entire population of adults on Parr Hill were in attendance."

"Weston HOWARD died at his home on Parr Hill, in Joplin, last week, aged 62 years. He was driven to the polls in a carriage and assisted therefrom in order to cast his vote. He lived long enough after that event to learn that his ballot had not been cast in vain. He was a member of the Fifty-first Indiana."
