"Painter Badly Hurt in Plunge at Plant. A fracture of the left hip and other injuries were suffered by George D. RIED, painter, when he fell from a scaffolding while working at the Gooch Lumber Company plant in North Selma late Monday afternoon. Falling a distance of some 40 feet, REID landed on a pile of lumber, the sharp edges of the boards inflicting painful cuts and bruises about his body. The injured man was first carried to his home, 3108 Water avenue, and was later carried to the Selma Baptist Hospital in an ambulance summoned from Jud BRESLIN's. His condition was reported good Tuesday morning."

"GEORGE DAVIS REID. Funeral services for George Davis REID, 73, 125 Scatterfield Street, were held at 3:00 this afternoon from the Lawrence Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Roland JARRARD, pastor of the First Baptist Church, officiating. Interment was in the New Live Oak Cemetery. REID died at his residence Sunday morning following an illness of about six months. He is survived by the widow, Mrs. Lillie L. REID; two daughters, Mrs. E. M. ALSOBROOK, Selma and Mrs. James S. RENFROE, Huntsville; one son, Ernest M. REID, Anniston; four brothers, Tom and Lester REID, Calera, Emmett REID, Clanton, and Bob REID, Montevallo; ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Hubert CARMACK, Kenneth REID, Kay RENFROE, Bobby CRISWELL, Buck PUGH and Buddy COTTON. Honorary pallbearers were A. E. ANDERSON, J. B. EDWARDS, R. E. KREBS, G. W. HENDRICKS, Jesse FREEMAN and L. A. STOUGH."
