"Jonathan [COBB], 25th Dec. 1694, married Oct. 20, 1715, Sarah HOPKINS of Harwich. The records of this family are incomplete. He had Benjamin, born June 25, 1726, married Bethia HOMER of Yarmouth, and was afterwards a merchant of Boston; Samuel, born May 21, 1728; Elkanah, born Aug. 9, 1731; Eleazer born Dec. 28, 1734, married Keshiah, daughter of Eleazer CROSBY; and Elizabeth born April 30, 1738; married --- CROSBY. Besides the above he had a son Jonathan, who married Mary CLARK, bor about 1716, who was the father of Elijah, --Scotto, 1741, Isaac 1745, John, Seth, Mary, Sally, Hannah, Betsey and Elkanah. Scotto above named was the father of the late Gen. Elijah COBB, whose son Elijah, a merchant of Boston, died Aug. 1861."

"JONATHAN COBB (Samuel-2, Henry-1), b. Dec. 25, 1694 at Barnstable, Mass. 'Jonathan COB and Sarah HOPKINS were married one October 20:1715 by Mr. Nathanaell STONE' (Harwich V. R. MD 6:83). After living in Barnstable a few years they moved to Harwich, Mass. Sarah died July 27, 1753, Aet. 59th yr. (Mort. Rec. Brewster), and Dec. 6, 1753 the marriage intentions were published of 'Mr. Jonathan COB of Harwich and Mrs. Mehitabel HOPKINS of Yarmouth'. (Har. T. R. 2:106). Jonathan died Aug. 3, 1773, Aet. 80th yr. (Mort. Rec. Brewster). He left a will dated June 6, 1766, in which he mentions 'Mehitable my well beloved wife -- my natural and well beloved sons Jonathan COBB, Benjamin COBB and Eleazer COBB, -- my natural and well beloved daughters Sarah MAYO and Elizabeth FREEMAN.' His son Jonathan to be executor..."
