Twelve Mile Circle has been cruising right along rather nicely for the last four-plus years. Even so, I haven’t expanded beyond a blog format with a simple RSS feed. Frankly, I’ve never seen much need for it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, I do receive occasional friend requests from the loyal readership for various social networks. They’ll sit in my inbox for awhile and eventually I’ll forget about them. That’s not because I’m a cold-heart brute but because social networking accounts don’t exist for 12MC. Well, today that changed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Google+<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
\"Google+<\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

I finally overcame the inertia and activated a Google+ for my existing twelvemilecircle gmail account. It took awhile to come to that decision but I think I finally found a purpose for it. It’s where I can post a lot of the “totally unrelated” non sequiturs I’ve included at the bottom of my articles lately. I can also use it for items so completely trivial that they wouldn’t even qualify for that. You know, all the crap.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You’ll also get to see some of the really strange search terms that drop on the site randomly. Those include gems like “what do guys in Arizona look like” and “why is Florida a populated place” and “weird vacation alone in Key West”. You might even get to see the seeds of thoughts that will eventually become full-blown articles. So here’s your chance to peek behind the curtain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I’ve added those of you who previously reached-out to me via Google+ with invitations that I hadn’t answered until today. For everyone else, feel free to let me know if you have a Google+ account. If so, I can add you to the 12MC circle. Yes, I’ve created a Twelve Mile Circle Circle. Isn’t redundancy grand? So get in touch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Facebook<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Well, some of you have asked. Even so, I still can’t bring myself to join Facebook for philosophical reasons. However, I am absolutely not a Luddite<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Perhaps I have unreasonable jumbo-sized expectations of privacy. Even so, here I continue to remain the last person in the Western world without a Facebook account. It’s kind of become a perverse badge-of-honor thing for me at this point.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I get to be all smug and everything whenever Facebook changes its terms of service or has a data breach. Then I’m insufferable. It’s a running joke I maintain with friends and family alike. Even my mom<\/em> is on Facebook, although my dad is not. Admittedly, he’s on record as saying he “needs to find out about that Internet thing someday<\/em>.” So there’s hope.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yes, I know Google+ isn’t that much different but I think of it as being perhaps a notch less evil. Maybe I’m fooling myself. Oh, and I use my wife’s Facebook account on occasion — with her permission of course and under the condition that she gets to roll her eyes at me for my hypocrisy whenever she likes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And Twitter? I don’t know. I’m not opposed to it and I read a lot of Twitter feeds. Would it really add value beyond Google+ for 12MC purposes? I guess the audience could persuade me if enough people express some interest. A lot of the good names similar to my blog are already taken. A band called Twelve Mile Circle took the best one. That’s okay. I’m sure they were miffed when they discovered that I snagged twelvemilecircle.com<\/a> solely as a redirect to my site.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
