Recently Google Maps changed the script that bloggers can use to embed Street View images within their web pages. Unfortunately the new script is not backwards compatible. I learned this today when I went back to one of my previous articles and saw that the Street View images no longer existed. Instead there was nothing but a big blank spot. From what I can determine this script change happened somewhere between December 13-17, 2009.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Apparently this surprised a lot of other bloggers and web designers because a quick check of the search engines demonstrated that this is a widespread problem. I do love Google Maps but this is something that will cause a lot of problems for heavy users of Street View scripts, including myself. It would have been a nice had they not disabled probably tens of millions of embedded images across the web.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
