My own photo.\"\/><figcaption>One of Amsterdam&#8217;s Many Scenic Canals<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>My wife and I rode a train from Brussels to Amsterdam for a day-trip. Obviously a single day is not enough time to do the city any justice. Even so, it was long enough to get a flavor. We walked through many of the neighborhoods and across and along the picturesque canals. We spent much of our time examining the galleries of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rijksmuseum.nl\/en\">Rijksmuseum<\/a>. There we could appreciate many paintings we\u2019d previously seen only in art books. I took the photograph above just around the corner from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.annefrank.org\/en\/\">Anne Frank house<\/a> as we started trekking back to Centraal Station for the ride back to Brussels (<a href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/sdBaMH9EN8L9tauG6\">map<\/a>).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Netherlands (September 1998) My wife and I rode a train from Brussels to Amsterdam for a day-trip.
