My own photo.\"\/><figcaption>Farmyard Petting Zoo<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Our visit to Belgium this time was quite a bit different than any of our previous trips. We needed to focus on keeping a 2-year-old entertained so our usual options would not work. Our little guy loves animals so visiting <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mondesauvage.be\/index-fr.php\">Monde Sauvage<\/a> [roughly translated: &#8220;Wild World&#8221;] seemed a natural choice (<a href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/D2Cftrrmkj9LEWUJ8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">map<\/a>). His favorite part was the farmyard petting zoo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There were many other attractions and activities to keep us busy. This included a Safari Park where you could drive your car around and look at African animals in a somewhat natural state. Also there were layouts like someone would see in a traditional zoo, walking among exhibits.<a name=\"autumn\"><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-css-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Public Park at the Royal Museum for Central Africa, Tervuren<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/8125\/8831728414_5900fb2bb5_o.jpg\" alt=\"Fall in Belgium. My own photo.\"\/><figcaption>Autumn in Belgium<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Belgium in the Fall is surprisingly nice. The crowds are gone while the temperature remains moderate. This large park (<a href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/Au8KDU5CydiDTnN36\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">map<\/a>) sits right next to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africamuseum.be\/en\/home\">Royal Museum for Central Africa<\/a> in Tervuren. As you can see we had it all pretty much to ourselves. We had a wonderful stroll through the crisp autumn air.<a name=\"circus\"><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-css-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Traveling Circus, Brussels<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.howderfamily.com\/graphics\/travel\/belgium\/going-to-circus.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>As this trip to Belgium was geared towards entertaining our little guy, we also took him to the circus. This was a small-tent circus that happened to be traveling through Brussels while we were there (<a href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/CjfEV7vd2YiHnckc7\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">map<\/a>). They let you sit a lot closer to the action than any circus I&#8217;ve gone to in the United States, which was an added bonus until the tigers sprayed the first couple of rows &#8212; though fortunately not us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I wish I knew the name of this circus and I was hoping the poster might shed some light. The lettering seems to be Italian; I couldn&#8217;t translate the top part (maybe it&#8217;s a name?) but the lower-left seems to translate loosely to &#8220;Army of Clowns&#8221; which does make some sense.
