I will be transferring some of my &#8220;old&#8221; geography pages into blog format to make it easier for me to manage content and so viewers won\u2019t have to ping back-and-forth between sites.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Twelve Mile Circle grew up from a series of static pages that I called &#8220;Strange Geography USA.&#8221; based on odd things I\u2019d encountered during my travels. These were locations where I\u2019d actually set foot, where I\u2019d documented local conditions with my eyes and a camera and where I had an interesting experiences to share.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Over time the distinction between the two became somewhat artificial. The Twelve Mile Circle gradually smothered its Strange Geography precursor like kudzu unleashed on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.howderfamily.com\/travel\/counties\/georgia.html\">Georgia<\/a>. The Circle now incorporates everything new, my personal travels as well as fascinating features I\u2019ve studied from afar. It\u2019s also expanded to an international audience. Strange Geography USA became an elderly dowager, beloved although perhaps a little senile, now ready to retire to the old folks\u2019 home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.howderfamily.com\/alternate-index.html\">remaining weirdness<\/a> on my website will remain untouched. If you really have an interest in my beer and genealogy fixations you can always go to those pages. They will not intrude here for the most part although longtime readers know they have a way of <a href=\"\/blog\/?p=84\">creeping in<\/a> from <a href=\"\/blog\/?p=70\">time to time<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I will return with plenty of new content once I finish the transition. I\u2019m hoping it will take no longer than a week or two. I have a bunch of topics waiting in reserve and I will then return to my normal publishing schedule once completed: about one new topic every third day (i.e., it takes awhile to research and write each entry and I have only an hour or two each evening plus some time on the weekends; you know the deal).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So sit back and enjoy some of these golden moments from the past.
