I have visited South Shore Brewery,
in Ashland, Ashland County, Wisconsin, USA.

Reason for Visit: We visited the South Shore Brewery while we were touring northern Wisconsin and the Apostle Island of Lake Superior. The name of the brewpub is an obvious reference to its location relative to this incredibly large inland sea.

Growler: The South Shore Brewery growler contains their standard logo in white printed on amber glass. Most of the logo contains text with the name of the brewery and noting that it's located in historic downtown Ashland, Wisconsin. It is bounded by a wide white border. There is a central image of what I think is Ashland's giant ore dock, one of the largest concrete structures in the world. Below the image are horizontally-oriented barley stalks. The South Shore Brewery also bottles their beers and they are located in nearby establishments. We found some in a grocery store in Washburn, a few miles up the road on the Bayfield Peninsula. This growler joined us on our ferry ride to Madeline Island later that afternoon. |

Front of the Brewery: The South Shore Brewery is located in the historic Wilmarth building along Main Street in Ashland. The streets seemed quiet when we arrived for lunch on a Sunday but South Shore was doing a brisk business. |

Exterior Display Window: The logo appears once again, acid-etched on an exterior window facing the street. This was really nicely done so it's a shame the photo didn't come out a little better. It you look closely though, you can see my reflection as well as some of the cars parked across the street. |

Brewing Equipment: The breweing plant can be viewed through a large plate glass window as you walk through the entrance vestibule. The tanks are considerably larger than many brewpubs I've seen, which isn't entirely surprising since they also bottle. |
