I have visited Kenai River Brewing Co.,
in Soldotna, Kenai Peninsula Borough, Alaska, USA.

Brewery/Brewpub Location Map

Reason for Visit: We were in Alaska on vacation for a couple of weeks, spending most of our time on the Kenai Peninsula. There are a surprising number of breweries and brewpubs on the peninsula. We wanted to see if we could visit them all and I think we did.

Kenai River Brewing Co. Exterior Exterior: This shot amuses me because the angle makes it look like it's a combined hair salon and brewery. It was actually two separate businesses sharing the same building at the time I took the photo. Judging by recent Street View images it appears that Kenai River Brewing has now taken over the entire space. Anyway, they're located in a pretty nondescript building about a block off the Kenai Spur Highway, which I'm sure keeps their rental costs reasonable.
Growler of Kenai River Beer Growler: We took a growler of Kenai's Skilak Scottish along with us. Nothing beats drinking a nice beer in its natural element.
Kenai River T-Shirt Apparel: The T-shirt for Sunken Island IPA features a couple of fish presumably on the so-called sunken island along the river bottom, lounging beneath submerged conifers. The fish also seem to have a cooler placed between them, as they enjoy growlers of beer. Other fish seem to be swimming along oblivious to the scene. I would guess that the beer is named in honor of nearby Sunken Island Lake, a spot favored by local fishermen.
Visiting Kenai River Brewing Co. Interior: The brewery itself is pretty small. They have a nice little tasting area directly inside the front door, with a full line of their available beers on tap. It looks like they had a least eight taps running during the day we stopped by if I'm reading the chalkboard correctly.
Brewing at Kenai River Interior: Upon entering the brewery and the tasting room, one can easily see where the brewing operations take place. These kettles were off to the left side of the facility. The documents posted above the doorframe are notices that appear to be required by law including warnings of harm that can occur due to smoking and drinking, and something about jail time for providing alcohol to people underage. My favorite is the one on the left: "This establishment by law (Title IV, A.S. 04.11.700) has the right to refuse service of alcoholic beverages to any person at any time."
