Reason for Visit: I am lucky to have been able to visit Belgium on several occasions and to sample many Belgian beers in their natural state. This brewpub is near the Grand-Place, a central place in Belgium's capital city, Brussels.

Front of Coaster. This coaster for De Brouwers van of Grote Markt / Les Brasseurs de la Grand-Place is a square configuration with rounded edges, printed in two colors on a white background. An oval design takes up the top half of the coaster. It features the silhouette of a gentlemen in an apron holding a Belgian-style beer goblet up to his nose. This is more than likely the brewery testing his wares. He stands next to a large brewing kettle. Large arcing text above and below provides a contraction of the brewpubs name in French and in Flemish, as would be befitting this officially bilingual city, separated by two hop cones. The location follows, enclosed in a rectangular block directly below. It is highlighted with an outline of a building that would be typical of the architecture of the Grand-Place/Grote Markt. The logo of the larger company or association that this brewpub belongs to, Ateliers van de / de la Gastronomie appears at the bottom. |
