Interesting Maryland county trivia

  • Washington County contains the narrowest point in Maryland. Here, the state practically pinches into two pieces with the distance across at less than two miles at Hancock, where Interstate 70 and Interstate 68 join.
  • The Town of Takoma Park used to be split by Montgomery and Prince George's Counties. In 1997 the county border was moved to place all of Takoma Park within Montgomery County.
