26, 1850.
Mary [Wescott] Howder is the wife of George Howder, head of household.
She is 45 years old and born in New York. Children in the household
include John, Mary A., Sylvester and Clarissa Howder. George's sister,
Nancy [Howder] Robinson and family live nearby.
(2) Source of birth location: 1855 New York State Census, Town of
Cambria, County of Niagara, dwelling 116, family 125.
(3) In the Surrogate of the County of Niagara (NY), petition of Mary
Howder for the settlement of the estate of George Howder, who died on the
Nineteenth of November 1856 without a will; December 1, 1856.
- Mary was possibly illiterate. The document is signed "Mary Morrall"
with "her X mark."
- Mary Howder and John M. Howder appointed administrators of the estate.
(4) Mortgage on the estate of George Howder, filed Niagara County, NY,
September 14, 1859.
- Listed as surviving spouse.

Mary [Wescott] Morrell is married to Ephraim Morrell, head of household.
She is 56 years old and was born in Ontario Co., NY. They are listed as
being married within the previous year. A second household on the
property contains Mary's daughter Laura Campell, her son John Howder &
wife Electa [Priest] Howder and her grandson George Howder. A third
household on the property contains Mary's son Sylvester R. Howder, her
daughter Clarissa Howder, her granddaughter Mary Campbell (daughter of
Laura Campbell) and Frederick Hawley, an unrelated farm laborer.

dwelling 184.
- Mary is listed as a widow and a co-owner along with her daughters,
Clarissa Howder and Laura Campbell.
- Most of the extended Howder family no longer resides on the farm.
Clarissa and Laura are still there along with Laura's daughter, Mary. A
tenant family has taken much of the space; Mary Griffis, a widow from
Canada, and her eight children reside there and continue to farm.

and Mary A. [Howder] Farnsworth. She is 60 years old, born in New York

- Living with her grand-daughter, Mary L. (Cambell) Weaver and Mary's
husband Frank Weaver. This was in the frame house near the main Howder
homestead.

Mary [Wescott] Howder resides with her son Sylvester Howder and family.
She is 76 years old and keeping house. She was born in New York.
