Stephen is 17 years old, born in New York and is a farm laborer who is also attending school.His siblings are Hellen (age 22), and Mary (age 19), both school teachers. There is another KENDALL family that lives nearby, but the relationship if any is unknown.

During his enlistment the unit served at Cold Harbor, Petersburg, the Mine Explosion, Weldon Railroad, Poplar Springs Church, Boydton Plank Road, Fort Stedman, Appomattox Campaign, moved to Washington, D. C. and participated in the Grand Review May 28, 1865. On duty at Arsenal, Washington, during trial and execution of President Lincoln's assassins. Mustered out July 26, 1865.

SPECIAL NOTE ON NEBRASKA RECORDS: The KENDALL family is generally listed in census records for Fillmore Co., Nebraska, although their post office is often listed as Sutton, Clay Co., Nebraska. They obviously lived near a county line, but I have not had an opportunity to determine upon which side of the line they resided.
