"Calexicans Celebrate Golden Wedding Anniversary. CALEXICO, Oct. 10. -- Golden wedding anniversaries are somewhat rare events and well deserving of special observance. Such an event was celebrated Sunday when Mr. and Mrs. Charles HEVENER of Calexico invited their friends to join them in observing their fiftieth wedding anniversary, entertaining at an informal tea at their home that afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. HEVENER were assisted in receiving their guests by their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Maurice HEVENER, while their daughter, Mrs. Muriel BRAGG of Fullerton, and their two grand-daughters, Dorothy and Jean BRAGG, presided at the tea table. Mr. and Mrs. HEVENER are well known pioneers, having come to the valley in 1911, and among the many friends who called during the afternoon to offer their good wishes, were many of the valley pioneer families. Included in the out-of-town guests was Mrs. HEVENEER's brother, H. L. PRIEST of Beaumont who was best man at the wedding which took place in Milbank, S. D., in 1889. During the day Mr. and Mrs. HEVENER received telegrams and other messages of congratulations, and displayed in the gift room were the attractive presents sent them by friends and relatives."
